Install from the App Store
Hollowport installs like any other iPhone app. Search for it on the App Store, or follow a link from hollowport.hevexa.net, and tap Get.
There's nothing to configure on first launch. Hollowport opens directly to the Capture tab — no account creation, no onboarding survey, no sign-in screen. That's deliberate: there's no account system at all, because there's no server for one to talk to. See Privacy for what that means for your data.
What you'll see on first launch
A tab bar with four sections — Capture, Problems, Collections, and More — and an empty request list on Capture, since nothing has been recorded yet. That's expected. Capturing traffic requires one more step: installing and trusting Hollowport's certificate, covered next.
Requirements
Hollowport runs on-device only, using Apple's Network Extension framework. It needs iOS on an actual iPhone — there's no simulator version of the capture engine, and no Android build. A native Mac app is launching alongside the iPhone app — see Features for what it does.
Company-managed (MDM) devices
On your own device, you're in full control of what you install and trust. On a device managed by an employer or school, installing a VPN configuration or a custom certificate authority may be restricted by policy, or may require your IT admin's approval. If Start Capture doesn't work after following the next article, that's the first thing to check.
